- 40% of users shop online via mobile platforms
- The new distribution centre in Jirny u Prahy dispatched 80% more goods than last year
- The e-shop’s peak visitation rate increased 50% year on year
MALL GROUP has successfully completed its eight-day Black Friday campaign, which definitively kicked off the main Christmas shopping season. During this year’s event, the distribution centre in Jirny u Prahy, with continuous two-shift operation, dispatched more than half a million items, which is 80% more than in the previous year. The use of mobile platforms for shopping also grew considerably, by 40%.
In terms of items sold, the most successful categories were toys with a 19% share of the total, small household appliances with 13.5% and household goods. MALL.cz registered the highest revenues in the segment of large and small appliances with a nearly 33% share, followed by video technology and mobile telephones, each with 9.5%.
An interesting fact is that, although the busiest day of the campaign is of course the actual “black Friday”, Monday ranked second in the whole week, meaning that people took advantage of the offered discounts from the very beginning of the event.
“Black Friday has gained a firm position in the Czech shopping calendar and has become one of the most popular campaigns on MALL.cz,” says Jan Řezáč, spokesman for MALL.cz. "In the course of Black Friday, customers start their initial Christmas shopping and thus avoid the stress of last-minute shopping. We sufficiently verified the preparedness of our logistics for the Christmas peak.”
MALL.cz has one of the most advanced distribution centres in Europe with 98% reliability. The centre’s capacity is currently 75,000 items per day and it is scalable to handle double that amount.
Thanks to 104 pickup points throughout the Czech Republic, MALL.cz is significantly expanding its reach to all regional capitals and district seats. As of 7 October, all MALL.cz branches are open on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and even to 5:00 p.m. in Prague. Branches are also open on Sunday from 24 October until Christmas. In addition to opening pickup points on weekends, MALL.cz is also introducing Saturday and Sunday delivery with the MALL 7 Days a Week service. With this service, it suffices to order goods by 5:00 p.m. and they will be delivered to the customer the next day (including on the weekend). In Prague, customers can use in-person pickup on the day of ordering in the case of orders placed by 1:00 p.m. on the given day. Thanks to cooperation with the start-up DoDo, Prague residents can enjoy express delivery of their purchases from a branch directly to their designated delivery address.
